Best travel time

You will find the best surfing conditions here in winter, but you can also find very good waves in Morocco in summer. The mild, pleasant climate and over 300 days of sunshine a year around the Agadir region make our surf camps a top destination for escaping the cold winter at home.

Air & water temperature

The constant winds from the Atlantic ensure that it is not perceived as too hot even in midsummer. The temperatures then average a pleasant 26°C, while in winter it still remains comparatively warm at around 18°C during the day. At night it can get cool around 10°C. There is hardly any precipitation all year round, most of it still in December, but even then only very sporadically, so that nothing stands in the way of a day of sun, waves and surfing. Water temperatures range from 22°C in summer to 16°C in winter.

Wetsuit

In winter, a 3/2mm wetsuit should suffice. If you want to be on the safe side, you can also pack a 4/3mm. In summer, a shorty is usually sufficient.

Flights

Morocco is only a few hours flight away from Germany. The best destination airport is Agadir. From here the surf spots and surf camps are easily accessible. There is a transfer from Agadir Airport. Agadir Airport is about 22 km from Aourir/Banana Village and about 30 km from Taghazout. With Qatar Airways you can get there from some German airports and you can take your board with you for free (max. length 3m). At Royal Air Maroc you pay €100 up to 2m and €150 for sports equipment up to 3m. With Turkish Airlines, the surfboard can fly for as little as €30. Marrakech is about 274 km from Aourir/Banana Village and easily accessible by Iberia and Transavia. At Iberia, the board costs €150 up to a length of 2.5m and a maximum weight of 23kg. Transavia only charges 40€ for the surfboard up to 32kg.

Entry

Entry is possible for German nationals with a passport, as well as a temporary passport, but not with an identity card. The previous child ID card with photo is still accepted. However, it is recommended to present a child's passport or your own passport. Travel documents must be valid for at least six months. Children's entries in a parent's passport are no longer valid as of 06/26/2012. Every child needs its own identity document. German nationals can enter Morocco for tourism purposes for up to 90 days without a visa.

Special customs regulations

Strict foreign exchange regulations apply in Morocco: dirham amounts may not be imported or exported. There are currently different tolerance limits for tourists (currently 1,000 dirhams) and residents. It is advisable to consult the Moroccan Customs website beforehand.

Specific criminal law provisions

Possession of drugs in Morocco is punishable by imprisonment of up to 10 years and heavy fines and customs duties. Even the possession of the smallest amounts is punishable. Extramarital and same-sex sexual relations (including consensual) are criminal offenses in Morocco.

Medical Notes

Mandatory vaccinations for entering Morocco are not required.

Language

Arabic and Mazirian are spoken in Morocco. French is used throughout the country as a commercial and official language. In the coastal regions and in the big cities, people also speak good English.

From fresh fruit and vegetables to fragrant teas and exotic spices, you will find everything your heart desires here.

In addition, we offer you a lot of other activities in our surf camps. The feel-good program naturally includes yoga, but you can also book cheap massages.
If you prefer a little more action, you can get around with a jet ski on water, with a quad on land or with a little less motorized camel riding and experience a very special highlight. And for those who want to immerse themselves even more in Moroccan life, we offer a visit to the local souk, the typical shopping district of the region.
Of course, a day trip to the legendary Marrakech is also recommended. The trip to the Pearl of the South is a must for anyone who wants to be captivated by the scents and colors of the West. You can round off the oriental experience with a relaxing massage in a typical Moroccan hammam (steam bath).
If you like it a little more tranquil, Essaouria, north of Taghazout, is the place for you. The picturesque coastal town is known as a hippie town from the 1960s and has a very special charm thanks to the French influence. Especially the old town (Medina), recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 2001, is particularly worth seeing and invites you to leisurely stroll and enjoy.
Moroccans are very friendly. Handshakes and a little small talk about the health and well-being of the family is appreciated. If you're offered tea, try at least a small sip and engage in a brief conversation. This is considered polite and is appreciated. A few words of Arabic can't hurt either. The common tourist vocabulary is enough to be rewarded with a smile.
The rule for tips is 5-10%, and a small thank you is also appreciated for minor help with luggage or the right way.

Don'ts

Morocco is a predominantly Muslim country. Extramarital and same-sex sexual relations are criminal offenses in Morocco.
The rule is - respect the locals! Even if things are a bit more chilled out in the surfer towns, behave and dress appropriately when you are out on the streets.
Possession of small amounts of drugs is a criminal offense and is punishable by imprisonment and large fines. So stay away from drugs!
Eating is done with the right hand; the left hand is there for other hygienic concerns - so be careful left-handers and remember this in public.
No street artist photos without paying! No matter how cute the little monkeys are, leave a tip or refrain from taking photos.

Surfing Morocco's Atlantic Coast

Morocco is a country where you can not only surf all year round, but where there is also a lot to do! Located in north-west Africa on the Strait of Gibraltar, it is only a few kilometers from the European continent.
