The small surf village on the northern coast of the Dominican Republic is the heart of the countries surf scene. There is an abundance of the best surf spots in the vicinity, some of which are the best you will find anywhere in the Caribbean. One of these spots is Playa Encuentro, where you have constant swell and favourable winds. The town also has amazing beachside bars, cafés, nightclubs and restaurants to discover. Cabarete is not only known for its surfing, but also for Kiteboarding, Wakeboarding & Windsurfing. If you want to explore the inland regions of the Dominican Republic you have the possibility of hiking through the lush tropical jungle, explore the rivers & waterfalls on a Canyoning tour, or take a Mountain Bike Tour.
There are countless tours available when you arrive at Surf Camp Caribbean that give you the chance to explore the underwater outer reefs to the mountainous inland regions, and everything in-between. Next to Cabarete and Playa Encuentro you have an amazing beachside cave formation to check out. You can swim and walk through the caves, as well as jump off some of the rock formations into the crystal clear water below. The guides will also throw in some amazing folk law stories about the caves and their history. If you’re lucky you might even see some cave drawings that can date back 2000 years.

Accommodation
At Surf Camp Caribbean we have apartments accommodating 1, 2, 3 & 4 persons. The small apartments have a queensize bed, the big ones have one bunkbed in addition.
Every one of these apartments has its own private terrace with seating and a hammock, perfect to chill between surf sessions. Here are the Prices! Surf Spots
The best surf spots in the Caribbean are located near the town of Cabarete, which is only a short distance from the camp. The surf conditions do vary slightly from season to season but there is surf throughout the year. If you travel from November to April you have the best conditions, bigger swell, and favourable winds in the morning. If you go the rest of the year, during their summer, you still get constant surf, it’s just a little smaller, and there is less wind in general. The local beach of Playa Encuentro has a few waves including Coco Pipe, the Dominican Republics’ version of Pipeline in Hawaii, Bobo’s Pipe, La Derecha and La Izquierda. There is a huge selection of waves at your door meaning every surfer, and skill level are catered to.

Puerto Plata - (POP)
Flights to Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic are the best option when travelling to Surf Camp Caribbean. When the flights are booked and finalised we can organise an airport transfer to come and meet you at the airport, and take you to the Surf Camp. If you organise your own flights we recommend using Skyscanner to give you a good overview of the available flights. Iberia, British Airways and Lufthansa are some of the airlines that fly to Puerto Plata directly, with many more making stops in the USA.
Transfers:
The best option to get from Puerto Plata to Surf Camp Caribbean is by shuttle. A single trip from the airport directly to the camp costs 38€ per person. The trip takes around 25 minutes. Bus:
If you'd like to catch the bus from the airport to the camp you have to walk approximately 10 minutes from the airport to the main road. You can also catch a "Motochono" which is a small motorbike. Once you're there you have to wait for the bus to Guaguas or Caro Publico, there is no bus timetable, but they usually come every 30 minutes or so. If you get on the bus to Caro Publico, you have to change in Sosusa onto the bus to Caberete. The Guaguas bus will take you all the way to Caberete. The trip to takes about 40 minutes, we recommend you get off the bus at Caberete and walk to Surf Camp Caribbean.
